Demographics and Psychographics (Target Audience, Price and Publishing)

Demographic

This is a way in which people are categorised in society regarding their jobs or it lack.
The categorise starts from group E, which represent people who are casual/ lower workers and might also represent pensioners or others who depends on benefits from a state.
Group D is a category which relates to the working class people with unskilled jobs, typically the manual labour.
The group C2 is a class of skilled working people, which work in skilled jobs and probably have not large dispensable income.
Moreover, the group C is categorise for another group called C1 and is represent the lower middle class people which are in supervisory, clerical, junior managerial or professional job employments and which have disposable income.
The group B is categorise as middle class people, and represents intermediate managerial administrative or professional job employments. People of this class have a large amount of disposable income.
The group A is in the top of the list as is categorising people from upper class and which are in high managerial, administrative or professional job employment. This type of people has a very large amount of disposable income.

From the table which categorises this type of people groups
I can learn who would buy my magazine and also make a reasonable decision about the price which would be suitable and decides when I will publishing my magazine regarding to the group of people in order to make sure they would be able to afford it.
For instant price of my magazine would be £3.50 per month A, B, C1&2 group and even D group would be able to buy it as a regular readers. This are the factors which I need to consider to make a sensible decision about publishing and price of my magazine.

Psychographics

This is a system which measures the customers’ beliefs and interests by gathering psychological information which is called IAO variables and stands for interest, attitudes and opinions. So the groups can be classified in terms of variables such as personality, values, attitudes, interests or lifestyles. Also, psychographics using the early research which describes consumers or audience members on the basis of psychological characteristics, typically gathered from standardised questionnaires. There are existing four main areas which were subdivided into nine lifestyles.

v  Groups driven by needs: - survivors and sustainers
v  Groups who are outer-directed: belongers, emulators, and achievers
v  Groups who are inner-directed: i-am-me, experientals, societally conscious
v  Groups who are outer and inner-directed: integrated.

Moreover, the situated culture is a term which is used to describe how our situation such as daily routines and patterns, social relationships with family and peers groups can influence our engagement with and interpretation of the media text.

Target Audience
I had decided that my music magazine will be created for people with music passion and interest in it, as mostly readers I have assume that would be students and young people. This decisions was based on research as it is proved that more young people rather than older is fascinating in music and more addicted to it. In the reason of that, I had focus to create my magazine more modern and recent that it could get into young audience.
Also, I will consider the likes, dislikes on types of magazines that my target audience might consume, interest, tastes in clothes, branches and music types. I will present this as “reader profile” where I will consider the branches which my magazine might promote and been sponsored by.
In addition, I will analyse the type of magazines in which they might be interesting in and analyse them similarities, after considering them evaluation (on cover page, contents page and double page spread). This would help me in creating my own music magazine as I will be aware what I should predict and include in it, to make the audience satisfied.
Moreover, using quantitative I will measure the classification of the audience into the groups of what type of target audience my music magazine will be created:

Price

Additionally, I had done some research about magazines prices and I had concluded that average price is around £3-$4. As one of my resources, I had used www.wiki.answer.com

Concluding, my music magazine is aimed for people who are interested and influenced by mainstream music genre. Magazine is aim for both type of gender and specific in age group of 15-25, this is because I believe that young population is more likely to be prejudiced by music and are more into it.
Also, this is the age when people make them decisions and follow them, while music is still somewhere in there, even if they do not realised. People associated themselves, moments, events and even the places with a music they had heard at particular instant and sometimes without knowing it they are like to it. This is relevant in my opinion to the magazine I wished to create, in the reason that it is all about the music and how it influence and affect audience.
By following all of conventions and refereed to the audience analysis I will try to appeal to this type of audience.

I have decided that the price of my magazine will be £3.50 as is in between and this price is not too much and not too less. Also, it will be affordable for choice by me specific age range group of 15-25. As some of them might be student and do not earn money at all or will earn but not very much.

Publishing
I have decided that I will publish my magazine on monthly basis, in the reason that as I have research the publishing of most selling magazine it is the best option for my magazine as it will give the advantage of saving the money for it and help selling line in promoting as will give more time and building the tension in audience while they wait for next publishing.
